Easy Tropical Smoothie Peanut Butter Cup Recipe

If you love peanut butter cups and smoothies as much as I do then you have to give this chocolate peanut butter smoothie a try. It’s inspired by the Tropical Smoothie Peanut Butter Cup smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe, but it’s MUCH more budget-friendly and lower in sugar.

This addictive smoothie blends together the perfect mix of peanut butter and chocolate, delivering a thick and smooth texture that will satisfy any sweet craving. Get ready to whip up a delicious filling smoothie that no doubt will become your favorite!

Prep Time: 5 minutes          Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp Cocoa Powder is what gives it a rich, chocolatey flavor. It’s also rich in antioxidants, fiber, and minerals such as iron and magnesium.

  • 2 Tbsp Creamy Peanut Butter is rich in protein and healthy fats to help keep you feeling full and satisfied. If you prefer a peanut butter swap, just use any other nut butters like almond or cashew butter.

  • 1 Small Banana Sliced & Preferably Frozen is the secret to creating the thick and creamy texture of this smoothie. Bananas are also a great source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Use ripe bananas that have been peeled, sliced, and frozen for at least 2 hours prior to making the smoothie or if short on time use what bananas you have.

  • 1 Cup Milk of Your Choice also helps to make that perfect creamy consistency. You can use any type of milk you prefer, whether it’s dairy milk or dairy-free options like almond milk, soy milk, or oat milk. If you prefer lactose intolerant or are vegan, plant-based milk is a great option.

  • 1 Tbsp Honey brings out the rich, chocolatey flavor in this smoothie and adds just the right amount of sweetness. If you don’t have honey on hand simply swap it out for another healthy sweetener of your choice.

  • 1/2 Cup Ice Cubes Optional Adding ice to your smoothie is optional, but I love the way it creates a thicker, creamier, milkshake-like consistency.

Add Protein To Make A Balanced Meal

As is, this peanut butter cup smoothie works great as a filling and delicious snack, but if you want to swap this smoothie out for breakfast or lunch just add protein. I personally add whey protein powder or whatever I currently have on hand.

Instructions

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend on high until creamy and smooth. I invested in the Nutribullet Pro+ 1200 Watt Personal Blender and highly recommend it.

If you often grab drinks on the go and want to make sure your cup fits securely in your holder to prevent spills, I can’t recommend this cup holder expander enough.  I no longer have to worry about my cups tipping over and making a mess!

Notes

Add more or less liquid to reach your desired consistency. If you’re having trouble getting it to be the thickness that you want add ice.
